1. Explain how you think the "creative" in the print campaign links to the TV commercial.
With the advertisements I've chosen one very strong message is always behind the whole reason they have been created. In the print ad the "creative" has been kept very plain & simple but links back to what a lot of people envisage, who may be involved in everyday life with a smoker & don't like the habit. I know myself, as a kid I was always trying to stop my dad from having another cigarette, this was one of the ways I went about it, breaking all of his cigarettes. It took the fright of a heart attack & further heart surgery for my dad to quit. For some, its left too late.
2. Explain how effective you think the TV ad and the print ad communicate their intended message.
I chose these ads because in my eyes the message / link between the two could not be put across any stronger. If you don't "break the habit" have a look at what you'll potentially be leaving behind.
3. Who is the campaign targeting? Why do you think that?
These campaigns both target smokers in general but also sends a message out to those involved with a smoker to support them in getting assistance to quit. The reason I think this is because there are many family members out there trying to get across exactly what these two sons of the man that lost his life to a brain tumor are trying to get across. Though it shouldn't have to take an ad to remind the smoker of a habit that in their everyday life they don't even think twice about.
4. Do you think it is an effective advertising campaign?
Yes I do think people sharing their loss of a loved one through the consequences of the habit is an effective way of advertising the campaign because it makes the smoker think of their loved ones & how they may feel if they were left behind grieving all due to the toll a cigarette took on the persons health when it could have been prevented.
5. Offer alternative ways the photography or creative director could have put over the same message.
For now I think Id give it to the creative director in this situation.
I think they've had plenty of time over the years to research the major issues involved with habit of smoking after now having linked majority of peoples deaths & health complications to a cause of some link of exposure to smoking.
